俗話説:眾人拾柴火焰高。
今天是一個我和雪琳“配音”的日子——我們為解讀中國工作室錄製了大約40條配畫外音工作,它們將會被用於正在攝製的《之江故事》紀錄片中。經過同意,我們來到有先進錄音設備的温州人家園工作室進行錄音。
解讀中國工作室團隊一直伴隨着我們這次徒步旅程,他們付出了難以置信的努力一直在路上撲捉記錄這次徒步的精彩過程以及途中的訪問。他們是我們徒步團隊的重要組成部分,藉此機會,我想好好為大家介紹這個團隊,並代表我和雪琳表示對他們的感激之情。
菲奧娜·麥格雷迪是一位導演兼製片達人,她來自英國蘇格蘭的格拉斯哥。她至今為止共拍過三部系列紀錄片,受解讀中國工作室的邀請,她加入了我們的團隊,做隨行拍攝記錄片的導演。
菲奧娜是紀實紀錄片領域的行家。對菲奧娜來説,這次徒步旅程她印象最深刻的是參觀磐安古茶園時見證茶神節慶祝活動以及永康古廊橋。現在我們的徒步即將結束,她將立即開始着手剪輯系列紀錄片中的最後一集片子。
薛奕薇來自解讀中國工作室的中方製片人,她在大學時學習英語專業,曾在英國蘭卡斯特大學深造,研究生則留學洛杉磯學習電影製作,現生活在北京。
奕薇曾拍攝劇情片電影的製作,電影往往拿到劇本後才能開拍;而這次的徒步紀錄片則是圍繞一個主題展開拍攝,然後根據實際發生的內容撰寫腳本。最讓奕薇印象深刻的,是徒步一路上的大自然美景,以及在永康醫院探望殘疾兒童時深受感動和啓發。
厲佳樂是我們團隊的首席攝影師兼無人機操作師,佳樂來自江蘇連雲港,他畢業於南京師範大學,專業是攝影技術。佳樂自己建立了攝影公司,是解讀中國工作室的合作伙伴。
他擅長拍攝紀錄片,他製作的一部介紹中國自然風光的短片《海拔中國》在2019邁阿密—美洲中國電視藝術周暨金珍珠電影頒獎典禮上榮獲短視頻組最佳導演金獎。
四年前從北京徒步到杭州的途中我們認識了佳樂。佳樂對這次徒步印象最為深刻的是啓程儀式以及參觀康復中心的殘疾兒童,他有一個兩歲的女兒,故當他來到殘疾兒童康復中心時,很受感動。
這一個月遠離女兒來和跟隨我們拍攝,他每天只好用手機和女兒視頻通話。每天需要扛着沉重的設備拍攝長距離畫面,有時遇到惡劣天氣,這些都很艱苦很具挑戰性。
李明是一位出色的音響師,他來自遼寧瀋陽,生性幽默,一路上帶給我們歡笑,使我們在路上精神振奮。李明從事音響工作已經有15個年頭,以前他經常參與電影和電視的製作,他不僅拍過電影,還演過電影。
和嘉樂一樣,他也是一位自由職業者,時常會接到很多拍攝項目。他印象最深的是徒步中的一天,雨下得很大,他需要在錄音的同時要保護設備,不讓它被雨水弄濕。他對下姜村也印象非常深刻。

丁志鵬是解讀中國工作室的攝影師,他來自山東,在大學時學習編導專業。這次徒步他專注於人物拍攝以及一些特寫鏡頭。我們認識志鵬是在去年,那時他來途中拍攝我們從北京走到曹妃甸的視頻。
除了拍攝,志鵬還有一副極好的嗓音,他的母親是當地的戲劇演員,而他本人則傾向流行歌曲,善於獨唱。徒步過程中,最讓他印象深刻的是參觀下姜村以及永康醫院的兒童康復中心。

程向東是我們攝製團隊的司機,他是湖北人,18歲便到杭州打工,現在在旅遊行業當司機。他有兩個孩子,女兒22歲,兒子13歲。這次跟隊,是他為數不多的長時間離家。
程師傅説,最讓他感動的是,不管天氣多麼炎熱,我們都一直堅持,儘管身體狀況不算太好(我想他在説我)。每完成一次接待任務,如果客户事後給他打電話感謝他,他都會認為這是顧客對他工作的認可而非常開心。我想我們也應該今後打電話感謝他。
説實話,我和雪琳之前一直擔憂我們的紀錄片團隊的攝製工作,因為我們的工作是純屬自願為主,而且我們感覺很難做出能讓別人讀懂我們故事的作品。但解讀中國工作室這個團隊工作十分努力,他們經常與我們溝通,或者與我們商量在哪些方面需要我們配合,這打消了之前我和雪琳的顧慮。
另一點讓我們擔心的是,我們以前的徒步開始時也有媒體團隊跟隨,但後來可能是因為我們的徒步過於無聊和單調,便中途放棄了。
公平的説,要跟着一對誰也沒有聽説過的老年夫婦長途跋涉一個月,要一直提起興趣,這對任何紀錄片製作人來説都是一個挑戰。
但是隨着沿途浙江各地美麗的自然風光,悠久的歷史文化以及令人讚歎的浙江人民在我們的身後,以及世界級專業攝製團隊——一切皆有可能。

‘Together-Everyone-Achieves-More.’ (TEAM) Source–unknown
Today had long been in the diary as ‘Voice Over’ day. That means a day to record around 40 audio voice links for the China Review Studio (CRS) team for the documentary they are making about the walk called ‘A Walk through Zhejiang’. We had been given kind permission to use a state of the art studioat the Wenzhou Returned Overseas Chinese Centre for the purpose.
The China Review Studio Team have been an ever present part ofour journey and have worked incredibly hard trying to capture some of the incredible experiences and visits we have made along the way. They have been an important part of the team and this blog would be a good moment to introduce them and for Xuelin and I to thank them:
Fiona McGrady – Self-shooting Producer/Director–from Glasgow inScotland. Fiona is a Producer/Director of the series of three documentaries. She was hired by China Review Studio to be the director and joined our walk. She is a specialist in observational documentary making. The stand out moment for Fiona was the visit to the Pan’an Tea God ceremony and the old covered bridge in Yongkang. Whilst the walk for us is finished for Fiona she now goes into editing the final series of films.
Yiwei Xue (Sami) – Producer with China Review Studio. Xue lives inBeijing but studied film production in Los Angeles and studied English at university which included study in Lancaster in England. Xue has worked in fictional film making where you start with a script and then film it, whereas in a documentary you start with an idea, film it and then write around it. Xue has been most inspired by the natural beauty and by the visit to the disabled children’s unit at Yongkang Hospital.
Jiale Li – No 1 Cameraman and Drone Operator. Lianyun Port, Jiangsu Province. Li studied photography at Nanjing Normal University. Li is acontractor to CRS and has his own company. he specializes in documentary making. He was recently awarded a Gold Medal and Best Director Award at the Golden Pearl Award Ceremony in Miami for his short film about the natural beauty of China. We had met Li before when he had come out to film part of our 2015 walk from Beijing to Hangzhou. The opening ceremony, visit to the hospitalas he has a daughter who is two years old so this touched him. Everyday he video his children. Challenge weather carrying long distance heavy camera.
Li Ming – Sound Engineer – Shenyang Province. Ming has kept our spirits up with his good humour along the way. He has been doing sound engineering for fifteen years. In the past he has worked mostly on TV and in movies. Not only has he worked on movies he has acted in movies. Like Li he is also a freelance recordist so works on various projects. His memory of us walking in the very heavy rain was a particular strong memory as the challenge was to record the sound without getting electronic equipment soaked. Xiajiang Village was his highlight.
Ding Zhipeng (Martin) – Photographer with CRS. He is from Shandong Province and studied Editing and Directing at University in Shandong. Martin’s role is to focus on the individuals and close up shots rather than the more general views. We had met Martin before as he had come out to cover our 2018walk from Beijing to Caofeidian. He also has an extremely good singing voice,his mother is a local opera singer and he does solo performances of modern songs. He was really impressed by Xiajiang Village and by the visit to the disabled children’s hospital in Yongkang.
Cheng Xiangdong – Driver – From Hubei Province and has been working in Hangzhou for 18 years and does mostly tourist transportation. He is married and has two children – 22 and 13. It is not that often that he is away from home for so long. Mr Cheng said he was impressed by the fact that no matter how hotit got we still walk despite not being very healthy (I think he means me). Hishappiness comes from his clients and customers being happy and calling him after a job finishes to thank him. We will make sure to do that.
To be quite honest Xuelin and I have been apprehensive about having a documentary team with us because our works are intensely personal and it is difficult to hand over how the story is told to someone else. The team from CRS worked hard to let us know what they had and what they felt they needed from us and that eased our concerns.
The other worry we had was because we had had media teams join us on previous walks but they had given up because walks (and we) were ‘boringand repetitive’. In fairness trying to make an old couple, who no-one has ever heard of, walking along busy roads each day for a month sound interesting is a challenge for any film maker. But with the beautiful scenery, historic culture and amazing people of Zhejiang behind us and the world-class skills of CRS film production team – anything is possible.
