1、Barman
Here is a simple, but politically incorrect answer to the question as I refuse to join the party of Chinese drum beating.
You know why? Because in spite of the supposed extra-ordinary technical developments happening in China, it is still viewed as a massive emigration hungry nation, just like India. The number of people migrating to China, or even desiring to migrate, is minimal in comparison.

Interesting observation…. May I offer a possible explanation, which takes into account demographics?China has a population that is roughly 60 times that of similarly sized Australia (1.37 billion vs. 23.2 million). How often do you see Australian expats in Singapore? Now for each one that you see, you should expect to see 60 Chinese foreign workers/immigrants, assuming all other variables to be equal. As a PERCENTAGE of China huge population, Chinese emigrating abroad is a really small percentage.
3、Swagato Roy
As a PERCENTAGE of China huge population, Chinese emigrating abroad is a really small percentage.Yeah, small percentage, but what if you take the same percentage for different countries? The number you would get will likely be even smaller for Australia, Canada, UK etc. even though I do not have any concrete statistics.

The average American has no awareness of, nor exposure to, the average person in China.Even students of China studies in America are taught with a narrowing list of largely American-authored textbooks.
China is also castigated in the Western media for its terrible air pollution. The liberal media excoriate China for human rights abuses. The Western media blast China for cheating in its trade relations with other countries, even though most countries in the world practice protectionism of some sort.
Well, here’s the deal: Chinese industries are not only getting closer to the technological frontier in conventional areas such as electronics, machinery, automobiles, high-speed railways and aviation, but also driving technological innovations in emerging areas such as new and renewable energy, advanced nuclear energy, next generation telecommunication technologies, big data and supercomputers, A.I., robotics, space technology, and e-commerce.

dude, as a member of strategic fooyou(fool you) bureau(戰略忽悠局), which is a non government civil organization, I can tell you some shady pictures are shown to you by members like me on purpose. we would love foreigners to think us of underdeveloped, to underestimate us, so that we can have space to catch up and surpass. that we call fool you strategy.
6、Reno Hyde
Well good thing you haven’’t fooled people like me. Americans tend to underestimate other people while Europeans are often well aware of what others are capable of.

there is much fake news about anti-China,easpecailly from BBC,CNN,VOA, Taiwan,Al Jazeera,FRI, for different political purposes.
8、David Guozilu
I watched a few videos and they did have some knowledge of China. However, the Chinese they have contacted are limited, their living range is limited, and they still use Western values to uate China, which is very small and low-level. In other words, they are also subjectively introducing China in their eyes. China and Europe are equal in size, and the population is the sum of Europe and the United States. China should be viewed from a macro perspective. I prefer scholars and professors to China, such as Martin Jacques, not Western politicians and government mouthpieces. Relatively speaking, the Chinese government’s ability to outreach has yet to be improved, and it rarely attacks or interferes with the political systems and people’s lives of other countries.
9、Adi Primanda Ginting
How many people do you want their contacted? hehe this is funny. They have gone to more China’s provinces than most Chinese citizens. North China to South China. They are individuals not politicians or government mouthpieces. To use western values to see China is not wrong, just different perspective. Even communist values come from the west. Now, Chinese people can’t speak up their mind to the world. There’s very limited way for Chinese people to speak about themselves to the world.

I have seen some.of their videos and find their opinions jumbled and anecdotal. They mixed technology, economic, culture, and social development indiscriminately. Consequently, you get statements like “even though China has modern cities, people still don’’t queue up, they still spit in public, etc.” Conflating different aspects of a society, and make conclusions based on one’’s self credited sense of cultural superiority, inevitably distorts the real situation. Cultural maturity comes with having long established experience of dealing with large and varied cultures over an extended period of time. Technological development has a different developmental path, and requires study but not necessarily cultural immersion. Other examples can be cited, but you got my point. Bottom line, they think very highly of their own cultural worldliness.

David so what you’re saying is every new source except the Chinese new source is inaccurate?

I’d go there, but I must get my passport, the visa to enter there and I must master the language and avoiding to seem a stupid Westerner.I am from Mexico.
13、Francois Ouellette
Nobody will think you are a “stupid Westerner”. The people are always extremely nice. Sure learn the basics, it’s just polite, but if you come just for a visit, it will be OK.
14、Allen Wang
Don’’t worry, most of the people in China are, although they might not smile that often, very kind to visitors as long as they behave. Hope you enjoy your journey! :-)
15、Thomas Pauken
Many Americans thinks about foreign countries in terms of historical stereotypes. France is believed to be a nation of cowards, because the French Armies had run away from the battle fields twice against invading Germans in World Wars I and II.
The British are viewed upon as monarchists and colonialists. Japan is perceived as a h-tech wonder world, while many Americans still hold a Cold War mentality and seem unaware that Russia and China are different from the times of Stalin and Mao.
In other words, the stereotyping has prevented many Americans from wanting to draw closer to China for fear that they would be mocked as pro-Marxists by their friends, family and peers. United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo can write an official letter of rebuke, claiming , many US citizens conclude it must be true without seeing verifiable evidence.
Interesting enough, the Israeli government has faced allegations that they mistreat Muslims in Palestine, but Washington overlooks such concerns and shines a spotlights on China’s crackdown on terrorism, claiming they are abusing the human rights of would-be suicide bombers and knife-slashing terrorists.
The contradictions over Washington’s treatment of Israel and China’s policy are boundless and Americans have wrongly assumed that Beijing is backwards and Westerners are good and tolerant. Accordingly, my recommendation would be to visit China if you can and then deliver your opinion.
Of course, you may have a bad trip to China and if so it’s understandable, you lack a positive impression of the Chinese people. But when I’m meeting Americans who visited China for their first time, most of them were surprised and held a more optimistic viewpoint of the country.
That’s because they likely had very low expectations before arriving here but instead they saw beautiful tourist sites and met regular people who treated them with friendship and respect.
So long as Americans come to China in a peaceful manner; following the laws and regulations of the country there’s no reason for the Chinese to treat them with a condescending attitude. The Chinese are strong believers in giving respect to people who show them respect.
Additionally, Americans are often surprised how clean Chinese cities are, compared with their hometowns because local sanitation workers pick up the trash every single day, while the police patrolling the streets keep crime rates low and the homeless are not permitted to harass local residents. That’s very different from most American cities, struggling with serious littering, high crime waves and homelessness.
