Sources tell ABC news that US medical investigators overseas filed an intelligence report warning of a potential corona virus crisis. As early as November with one source saying analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event.

Those warnings reach the Pentagon and the White House months ago, but was any action taken and how is a president responding now? ABC’s Jonathan Karl has more from Washington.

（記者畫外音）ABC新聞獲悉，美國情報機構早在11月就提出警告稱，一種失控的疾病正在中國蔓延。這一可怕的警告已在一份由隸屬軍方的國家醫學情報中心提供的報告中詳細闡述。但就在2天前，川普大統領還説沒有人看到警告。

ABC news has learned US intelligence agencies were warning way back in November that an out-of-control disease was sweeping through China. The dire warning was detailed in a report by the military’s national center for medical intelligence. It’s recently as two days ago president trump said nobody saw the warning.

This came out of nowhere. Nobody would’ve ever thought a thing like this could have happened.

November intelligence report determined the virus was changing patterns of life in China and posing a threat to US forces in Asia. Analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event. A source familiar with the report tells ABC news, adding the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s joint chiefs of staff and the White House were briefed multiple times. George Stephanopoulos asked the Defense Secretary about the warning.

The Pentagon received an intelligence assessment on COVID in China last November, from the national center for medical intelligence and DIA.

By early January, sources tell ABC news, the information was included in the president’s daily intelligence brief. But later that month, the president said the threat was under control.

When did you first know about the intelligence? And could you have acted on it then?

He has subsequently said that what he was doing was trying to be a cheerleader for the United States, not to make people needlessly panic. And he says that as soon as he saw the warnings that were so severe, he made that move to shut down travel from China, which was a move. It was in fairness criticized, certainly by some members of congress.
