This is without a doubt, the best cultivation novel on the website.

It still has the premise of someone finding an OP item but the MC is intelligent, ruthless and does not rely on the item like a crutch. Fascinating world building and feels like a full story that doesn’t just repeat itself.

This feels like an accurate story of how a random person with no real talent can climb a mountain of corpses to stand at the top of his world.

It is well translated and having over a thousand chapters already released to binge should hopefully convince people to read it.

If you want someone who soars through the heavens in one step, then you won’t enjoy this.

Han Li does get his crutch like any other MC, but his struggle for immortality lasts much longer than others. Although this might be frustrating for readers who see the MC gain very little and lose as much, it can also be just as refreshing.

He has no talent, and fights rely on the treasures rather than the skill in most aspects. Han Li realizes this, and treats every fight with caution rather than jumping into action without any preparation.

Some arcs do tend drag on a bit too long, but it’s also expected when he can’t use heavenbreaking items and skills. If you have the patience, I highly recommend it for you…

Probably the best novel in WW at the time I wrote this review. This not even a boastful claim since there’s just so many novels in this website alone that stole a troupe, plotline, character sheet, etc etc from RMJI.

If you like, who likes a smart, calm MC with a good badass personality that you could root for, this is it. Look no further. He’s a very well written character in a very well written novel.

To add to the fact, that there’s not a lot of plot hole, or deus exmachina plot armor in the novel that would let you enjoy the novel without losing any brain cell, RMJI also made you wanting for more chapters because of the good fighting scene and three dimensional characters that would be the gold standard of Chinese WN.

This is a top 5 novel of mine.

This novel isn’t for the person who wants young masters, constant face slapping, and failures to recognize mount Tai.

Han Li is the forgotten side character of most novels who’s intelligent but knows his talent is trash. And it stays that way for the entire ride. He knows when to throw his weight around and when to pull back, and he knows how to keep himself alive. For all intents and purposes, he’s one of the truly smart MCs.

He recognizes that he can’t deal with every problem, and sometimes the best thing to do is just hide! Hide and cultivate, and let someone else deal with this problem! I don’t know of a single other novel where powerful antagonists that are introduced…

One of the best cultivation novels, it respects its title. This novel is really about the struggle of an ordinary, untalented youth, who later on ages, to cultivate in standard (not too good, not too bad) cultivation world.

Him succeeding and increasing his power is not due to talent, but due to (moderately ) hard work, (weak and later mildly strong ) treasures, thinking and taking advantage of situations, and definitely not plot armor(most of the story).

Even though it’s slow, it deserves being read, seeing the world from the perspective of a struggling person without massive power-ups is a good experience.

Side characters are not overlooked, despite not being that important, and it’s a bit sad seeing the aging of MC’s family, and him wandering whether or not to sever his ties.

This novel has something that other novel didn’t bother to do and that is build up. And that is nice to read compared to other xianxia novel out there. Thr down side is or something that i would love to see more is some kindness or compasion although this novel has some but i think it could do with a little more, or maybe some companionship because it could be a little boring if all we could see is han li. And it would be nice to see other character journey to immortality like han li so therr is some camparision towards the main character.

But overall one of the best xianxia novel and personally my favorite.

這部小説有一些其他小説不願意做的事情，就是人物成長。和這裏的其他仙俠小説比較起來，讀的很舒服。缺點或是我想更多看到的一些善意和同情，即使小説裏已經有一些了，但是我覺得可以更多，或者是一些陪伴。因為一直看韓立有一點無聊。看到其他角色的長生之旅會很好，這樣就與主角有了一些比較。

If you want to know why I like this novel, just read the other reviews.

I put RMJI on the same level as Overgeared, one chinese and one korean, one about martial cultivation and the other about a game, but both masterpieces.

The author will not forget anything in the story : Han Li find a treasure but can’t use it ? Even if you forget it after 200 chapters, the author won’t. There is a clear goal, and almost nothing is left to the author’s egoistic wishes because everything is planned, the MC isn’t some guy who got all of the world’s luck, it really is a cultivator’s life, more realistic than any other cultivation novel, a refreshing change…

There are two novels on this site that are absolute must reads and this is one of them. It’s very refreshing. I often reread this novel from the beginning. It will absolutely be a purchase once it’s complete. If you enjoy the genre you’ll enjoy definitely RMJI and will recognize it to be a star of the genre.

This novel dismisses or makes very very little use of common MC tropes within the genre. It’s not a harem novel. The MC (Protagonist) really focuses on his cultivation, is intelligent and doesn’t “break character” for sake of plot twist. You feel the pacing is just right, even has proper use of time skips.

No words can describe it. If you’re deliberating, read any negative reviews, or are unsure -- then listen to a friendly fellow daoist, and pick up this novel.

I won’t even attempt to describe the novel, because it’s impossible to do it justice. All I can do is try and stress the sheer epicness of RMJI.

If you’re here, reading this, you have either read other novels before, or you are new and somehow wound up in this rabbit hole - but regardless, this novel is a must read.

I promise you won’t regret this read. If I lie, may my dao heart collapse and my body be struck by heavenly tribulation!

This by far my the best novel I’ve read.

Han Li starts out as a the 4th son of a farmer and ends up getting the chance to become an immortal. In his early development, he struggles to without a mentor. Later in the story, he’ll temporarily put aside his differences with some of his enemies to achieve his goals. Like most novels he makes friends and enemies. Althoigh he becomes acquainted with many women, only one of them becomes his Dao companion. So this is not your typical harem styled story. The story does a great job at time progression. Not like other stories where the MC goes from weak to strong/unstoppable in flash (20 years). I highly recommend this story.

One of the best cultivation novels i have read, although i am only up to chapter 1354.

One of the best things about this novel is that his ‘‘cheat’’ does not directly effect his cultivation or combat ability, it is more a supplement. This means the MC must work for every advance, and no he is not that talented.

Another point I like about this novel is the lack of an obvious pattern. the MC, like in most cultivation novels does train, go on adventures, encounter battles and craft things. However there is no set pattern. The only pattern i have seen so far is that each major struggle tends to break the MC’s treasures. This means he must repair them or earn new ones. This is a welcome change from novels where the MC learns a new super awesome move or power and then slowly, or immediately, no longer uses the old ones for no reason…
