I think they realize that iPhone buyers in India belong to a class who’d take on EMIS just to buy a phone to look rich, or they’re rich enough and don’t care about a few hundred dollars. Either way, Apple wins.

I still get amused by the number of folks who earn 30k per month but use iPhones and dine at 5 stars at least once a month just for the insta likes. I mean, the phone costs 4 months of your 12 hour labor, is a gadget you can’t even work on worth that much? I’d understand if it was a MacBook, but an iPhone is too small to even study or code on.

Years ago, when “netbooks” (remember them? Cheap laptops with tiny screens - rather clunky and slow) were all the rage, Steve Jobs was asked when Apple would make a netbook. His response was something like “We don’t know how to make a $500 computer that’s not a piece of junk, and our DNA will not let us ship that”.

Well, I’ve always suspected, especially as the iPad’s CPU got more powerful and iPadOS added multitasking and mouse/flash drive support, the eventually the iPad became Apple’s attempt at making a low-end Mac. Their ads even try to position the iPad as a computer on which you can do your homework (of course, the Apple Pencil and keyboard/mouse, even if 3rd party, adds to the cost of the iPad). Soon, iPads and Macs will even run the same silicon.

As a student, I’m able to work on my lecture notes on my iPad and have them immediately sync to my phone and laptop. I can copy anything on one device and seamlessly paste it on my other devices. I can quickly send files over using AirDrop. I can right click on my desktop to immediately open my iPhone’s camera, scan a document and have it instantly show up on my laptop. My calendars and reminders are always synced across my devices. I can run Siri Shortcuts to get composite tasks done, either from my phone or my speaker.

These little features add up and really boost my productivity.

Can u tell me if iPhone is worth it if someone is not in apple ecosystem. I have a windows laptop and iPhone 6 and it’s a pain to transfer files from iPhone to PC and vice versa. Is it better in iOS 14 because I don’t have latest version of iOS in my iPhone 6.

True. Or the small majority who actually have brains and understand tech who don’t buy iPhones regardless. I’d rather invest in a powerful laptop because i need it and I’ll actually make use of it instead of getting a ridiculously expensive phone for making phone calls and browsing Reddit.

In 2018 i did just that. I bought the Nokia 7 Plus for 19k (and put my money into a ASUS ROG laptop for work and games), while my roommates bought oneplus 7t (45k) and iphone X (1L+?) or something. After 2 months they both regretted it. The difference is the oneplus one admitted it while the iPhone one didn’t, even though we could clearly see it.
