美國得以雄霸天下的奧秘，其實全都在南方公園第七季第四集“I’m a Little Bit Country（我有一丟丟喜歡鄉村音樂）”裏。這題目取自Donny & Marie Osmond六十年代一首鄉村音樂歌名，不過鄉村音樂和國家在英語裏是同一個詞，所以剛好意思在這裏是雙關。這集裏的歌也都是用這歌的調兒。

這集講的是，南方公園這小鎮上剛好在同一時間同一地點舉行了兩夥支持和反對伊拉克戰爭（這集是03年拍的）的遊行集會。雙方因理念不合發生了爭吵，隨後變成了互毆。為了解決爭議，雙方都想知道美國的建國者會支持哪一方

**美國雖然千方百計抹黑攻擊阻撓別國尊敬其開國元勳，卻對於自己蓄奴又剝削的建國者們有着不容詆譭的蜜汁崇拜，所以好多事兒搬出來建國者怎麼怎麼着就解決了，類似於美利堅的祖制不能改。

主角小男孩卡特曼夢迴美洲殖民地時代，去了費城各殖民地代表簽署美國獨立宣言的地方。結果發現，這些建國者正因為是不是要為了獨立和英國開戰而吵得不可開交。。。

約翰·迪金森：“我們不能用戰爭建立國家！ We cannot found a country based on war!”

約翰·亞當斯：“我們不能建立一個不敢一戰的軟弱國家！We cannot found a country that is afraid to fight!”

這時，本傑明·富蘭克林出現了。他説，“我相信我們如果建立一個新國家，這個國家不能讓別的國家覺得我們很暴力愛打仗。但是我們也不能顯出軟弱不想打仗。為了解決這個問題，為什麼我們不讓我們的國家同時顯示出這兩種特質呢？ I believe that if we are to form a new country, we cannot be a country that appears war-hungry and violent to the rest of the world. However, we also cannot be a country that appears weak and unwilling to fight to the rest of the world. So, what if we form a country that appears to want both?”。

托馬斯·傑弗森：“是的，當然了。我們去打仗，同時舉行反戰遊行。Yes. Yes of course. We go to war, and protest going to war at the same time.”

本傑明·富蘭克林：“這就意味着作為一個國家，**我們可以隨便打仗，同時顯出我們不想打仗。如果我們允許反戰人士反戰，我們的國家就永遠不會被別人指責。**And that means that as a nation, we could go to war with whomever we wished, but at the same time, act like we didn’t want to. If we allow the people to protest what the government does, then the country will be forever blameless.”

約翰·亞當斯：“就像是既佔有蛋糕又吃掉它。It’s like having your cake, and eating it, too.” 

**You can’t have your cake and eat it 是英國俗語，意思是人不能好處都佔（明明把蛋糕都吃掉了還想着佔有它），中文類似含義的熟語應該是做xx，立牌坊。

眾人：“想想吧，整個國家建立在説一套做一套上面。這就是美國。Think of it: an entire nation founded on saying one thing and doing another. And we will call that country the United States of America.”

卡特曼夢醒回到廣場，跟大家解釋説，“這個國家是由一些很聰明的人設計的，他們意識到：真正強大的國家會去打仗，同時，假裝它不想。This country was founded by some of the smartest thinkers the world has ever seen. And they knew one thing: that a truly great country can go to war, and at the same time, act like it doesn’t want to.” 

“**你們這些想要打仗的人，你們需要反戰人士。因為他們讓這個國家看起來像是由有理性、有愛心的人組成的。你們這些反戰人士，也需要這些支持戰爭的人。因為如果我們的國家只有軟蛋卵子，那就存在不到一秒鐘。所以建國者們説我們全都要。**這就是吃了蛋糕還是有。You people who are for the war, you need the protesters. Because they make the country look like it’s made of sane, caring individuals. And you people who are anti-war, you need these flag-wavers, because, if our whole country was made up of nothing but soft pussy protesters, we’d get taken down in a second. That’s why the founding fathers decided we should have both. It’s called “having your cake and eating it too.”

羣眾A：”他是對的，這個國家的優勢就是可以説一套做一套。He’s right. The strength of this country is the ability to do one thing and say another.“

支持戰爭人士：”如果沒有你們這些反戰人士，全世界都會恨美國人——而不是隻恨美國總統。Yeah, but… if it weren’t for all you guys protesting, why everyone around the world would hate the American people instead of just the President.“

反戰人士：”如果沒有你們舒展肌肉，美國會被輕易的被恐怖分子或者中國幹掉了。And if it weren’t for you people flexing your arms, America could easily get taken over by terrorists or… or China.“

於是大家抱作一團開始唱歌。

支持戰爭人士：”我喜歡鄉村音樂。Hey I’m a little bit country“

**鄉村音樂，最廣泛受眾在美國農村。所以在這裏指代美國傳統價值觀/共和黨/紅。

反戰人士：”但我也喜歡搖滾。And I’m a little bit rock-n-roll-AH!“

**五十年代從美國城市中發展起來的搖滾，在指代美國自由民主價值觀/民主黨/藍。

支持戰爭人士：”讓我來當美國的肌肉。I’ll be the muscle of America”

反戰人士： “而我是它温柔的靈魂。And me, I’ll be the caring soul.”

一起：“當你把我們放在一起，你就得到了一個只有統一目標的國家：為了蓬勃發展和繁榮——既鄉村，又搖滾。And when you put us together you get a nation with one goal. To thrive and prosper, with a little country and rock and roll.”

支持戰爭人士：”我們可以是個相信戰爭的國家。We can be a nation that believes in war.“

反戰人士： “但是始終告訴這個世界我們並不是。And still tells the world that we don’t.”

一起：”讓我們把雙標的旗幟插滿世界，因為我們有一點鄉村，又有一點搖滾。Let the flag for hypocrisy fly high from every pole. Cuz we’re a little bit country, and we’re a little bit rock-n-roll.“

最後一起：”打仗還是反戰？誰在乎！For the war, against the war, WHO CARES??”

卡特曼的一句話總結了這集的中心思想：”建國者們只是想讓你們知道，隨便你們想反對什麼都行，只要大家都認同國家牛X就行了。The Founding Fathers want you all to know that we can disagree all we want, as long as we agree that America kicks ass.“

初看這集時剛來美國不久。那時候的我十分詫異，美國人完全不比中國人聰明不比中國人勤勞不比中國人能幹，憑什麼能做到現在的位置。看了這集之後我恍然大悟：行動上美國説一套做一套好處都佔，做事情的人可以拋開道義的枷鎖（因為有人立牌坊）而總是爭取對自己國家最有利的位置；思想上雖然貌似分歧，全民卻都有着“我國優先，以我國利益為先，以維護我國利益為最優先”的精神統一。雖然很難搞清楚美國是因為這種精神統一才強大，還是因為強大而有了這種精神統一——但是，美奸？不存在的。無論在世界各處，每每有美國國歌響起，在場美國人必放下手中活吃的飯聊的天脱帽站直捂胸，其眼中閃現出的對本國熱愛的火苗，深深讓外國人羨慕嫉妒恨。
