一個高水平的創新，最大的悖論就是，你既要成為你這個領域的專家，同時還要擁有初學者的心態。你必須同時這兩個條件。世界對於初學者來説，真的太複雜了。所以無論我多麼具有創造力，我也無法發明一種全新的腦科學手術方法。你必須是一個神經外科醫生，你必須已經充分掌握所有腦部手術的原理和方法，才能進入更高級的發明創造。問題在於，大部分人在成為專家的時候，就已經失去了用新視角看待事物的能力。他們忘記了“空杯”心態。
One of the great paradoxes of inventing at a high level is that you need to be an expert in your domain area and you need to have a beginner’s mind. you absolutely need both of those things. the world is too complex to actually just be a beginner. So you know, I can’t no matter how inventive I am, I can’t go invent a new kind of brain surgery. You have to be a neurosurgeon, you have to already know all there is to know about brain surgery and then take it to the next level. The problem is for many people by the time they become true experts they’ve lost that ability to see things in a fresh way, they’ve lost the beginner’s mind.
