樊佩瑩自述：

大家好，我叫樊佩瑩，來自上海民辦位育中學。在我小時候，我經常看到我的祖父用留聲機聽音樂。

他告訴我在他年輕的時候，唱片第一次被引入中國。如此薄的一張唱片可以捕捉轉瞬即逝的聲音！所有人都被震驚了。許多人，包括我的爺爺，都去著名的百代唱片公司買唱片。

這裏是百代唱片公司的舊址。因為它紅色的磚牆，人們給它取了個外號叫“小紅樓”。它生產了當時中國最好的唱片，更重要的是，它將西方音樂，甚至逐漸地也將西方文化引入了中國。唱片不僅僅是外國的音樂——它也代表着一個不同的文化，和一個看向世界的窗口。

上海是一個來自不同國家的不同文化相互融合的地方。像我的祖父一樣，我也從小在上海遇見不同的文化。上海歡迎不同的文化，就像大海歡迎不同的河流。這就是為什麼我如此熱愛上海。

Hi, I am Fan Peiying from Shanghai Weiyu International School. When I was little, I used to see my grandfather listening to the music from a gramophone.

He told me in his teens, gramophone recordswerethe first time introduced to China. Such a thin disk could capture sounds, which made everybody fascinated. Many people, including my grandfather himself, went to buy gramophone records from the famous record company EMI.

Here is the former site of the gramophone records company. Because of its red-brick walls, it got its nickname: Pathé La Villa Rouge. It produced the finest gramophone record disks in China. More importantly, it introduced western music and gradually even western culture to China. This disk wasn"t merely a piece of foreign music, it also represented a different culture, and a window towards the outside world.

Shanghai is a city where different cultures from different countries meet and integrate. Like my grandfather, I have come across different cultures in Shanghai since I was born. Shanghai embraces different cultures like a sea welcoming different rivers. That"s the reason why I love Shanghai so much.
