Yan your videos have an immense impact to western people who are open minded and look to China - something which is new for us. You show us that China is beautiful and rich of culture which is mostly older than the whole western world. The rural life in this video touches me so much that I often cry. It reminds how life was hundreds of years before in my country. We are social beings and we can’t live happily all alone. Now I love China so much!!!

Do not forget that this village is almost like a skanzen. The houses were renovated. The streets have been paved. You pay an entrance fee to enter. Thus, it is something artificial. Of course, villagers still live and work here but from one of the conversations it seems that they look for some more stable income than growing rice and keeping animals. Tourism give them a chance to survive. However, if food prices will remain relatively low and the cities can offer better opportunities even this village supported by local tourism will be emptied.

These closely knitted societies can survive thousands of years because they are united and selfless. The whole village celebrate and mourn together. Each has clear responsiblity in these banquets. Hope when they move to cities they can keep to these traditions. Life is tough but everyone is happy. Thanks for bringing us such a wonderful story.

Good to see that the government is helping to renovate and improve the villages so that the young people have more work opportunities and will be more inclined to stay and help maintain the traditional life-style.

In fact, the Chinese go to the city, the relationship between neighbors become strange. But I agree with you that the tourism industry will make young people stay and remind people in the city of the old days.

In fact, most rural areas in China are like this. We are located in rural areas in the south. It’s also a similar custom. But our living conditions are better.

A few years ago a group of us from Singapore and Malaysia travelled to Yunnan to photograph the rice terraces of Yuanyang. This place is a favourite with photographers from all over China. I remembered getting up early in the morning, at 4.30am to reach the rice terraces so that we can be in the front to set up our tripods and cameras. By 6.00am there were already large groups of photographers behnd us. As the sun rose above the horizon, the whole landscape has an almost a surreal look to it. If you like landscape photography, this is a must place to visit.

幾年前，我們一行人從新加坡和馬來西亞來到雲南拍攝元陽梯田，那裏是中國各地攝影師的最愛。我記得我們一大早就起了牀，4點半就趕到了梯田，這樣我們就能走在最前面架好三腳架和相機。早上6點，已經有一大羣攝影師跟在我們後面了。當太陽從地平線上升起時，整個景色幾乎有一種超現實的感覺。如果您喜歡風光攝影，這裏是必到之地。

I’ve lived in China but have only visited the main tourist attractions, unfortunately. China is so vast it’s almost impossible to see all of its charm. What you’re showing us really is the mostly unseen China that most of us don’t have the chance to explore. I enjoy watching to your interactions with the local people - something that foreign YouTubers aren’t able to do to your extent.

Much thanks for this very very interesting video - I have sent it to friend in Russia - England and Jamaica - In Jamaica are many Chinese people old - before i was born - I am 82+ - and new ones over the past 10/15 years - I went to school in Jamaica with Chinese people and in 2015 Imet again the Chinese lady that I bought sweet from when I was 6 years old - she lives in my village in Jamaica and she did not forget who I was - it was great - she could remember what I used t be - always wanting to buy more sweets but not having enough money - she died in 2016 - aged 96 years old - a truly wonderful woman

Thank you for taking us to places where the mainstream tourism does not visit. I am like one of the Seven Fairies stealing a look down from heaven at the ground below. This is gratification being surrounded by loving people and contentment having such a beautiful view to wake up to each morning. Life is hard but a simple, happy life is what they have.
