It’s just released with the price of 529 k yuan (previously said to be 820k). xiaomi expect 10 k sales of SU 7 ultra for 2025. I think it will sell more than 10k units.
@Mnm0602
How does 1500 hp even get to the road properly without insane tires lol? Holy shit.
@syzygyer
Check the video from YouTuber telescope. Obviously you can set it to some “comfort” mode which gives about 400 HP. Even on the track, he was driving in the “endurance” mode which only gives 900 HP. The 1500 is only supposed to be used seriously, like on a track.
@linjun_halida
It has tires import from Europe.

At higher speed I assume grip is less of an issue for acceleration and it gets more power limited, though I guess performance at 150+ doesn’t matter at all outside the track
@e136
Correct - the tire contact patches have a limited force they can apply to push the road backward/push the car forward. And since speed * force = power. And since power is approximately constant (very roughly), 1500 hp would overcome the contact patches friction at low speeds (spin tires) but not at high speeds. So I would guess this has a good 0-60mph time, but amazing higher end acceleration (say 100-150mph)
@Terrh
my 762hp model S seems to do just fine with all seasons even in the rain.
@ssspppeed
The preordered amount has been over 10k. So impressive
@nuHAYven
Many people preordered cyber trucks and then cancelled when they were so bad.
@faitswulff
If xiaomi executes well, we’ll probably see the opposite effect here.
@mooman555
This car confuses me so much, these specs and those prices should be impossible
@wwwhatisgoingon
All Chinese car prices seem impossible when directly converted. Domestic competition is massive, they’re operating at thin or negative profit margins to gain market share, big economies of scale, vertical integration, and there isn’t a dealership middleman demanding their share.
The most expensive trim and 530hp version of the BYD Seal, for comparison, sells for $25.000 converted.

@kimi_rules
$10,000 profit per car is not the same in the US vs China. Everything is cheaper in China, there is more value per dollar.
@1AMA-CAT-AMA
Imagine what actual competition would do to the US market

@tenemu
Id assume most car companies would go under and everything will be manufactured in China not the US. Is this what people prefer? Sure cars could be cheaper but will people have any jobs to buy stuff?
@Cautious-Question606
Free market baby, thats what US has been touting for it
@bangbangIshotmyself
Exactly. It would be amazing for our evolution as a nation.
We could allow China to build all these things and but then for cheap. That way Americans can spend much more money on other things.
Also, it would allow Americans to focus on other jobs that’s produce value in other ways instead of just being labor slaves
@robinvangreenwood
incredible to think that the country that’s supposed to be the flagbearer of free market is US in this scenario.

@melvladimir
But this is not “actual” competition. It’s China VS other markets. It’s not the same. There are a lot of things behind final price

@rtb001
While you make some valid points, they wouldn’t apply to halo cars such the SU7 Ultra, which isn’t meant to be sold in large numbers.
@danielv123
Apparently they expect to sell 10k of it this year, but I guess large numbers is relative
@davidsv
xiaomi just announced that they have got 10k orders in two hours!
@danielv123
Not surprised
@nuHAYven
I don’t know why this gets downvoted.
American car manufacturers benefit from things like direct loans during the bailout, massive subsidies of oil companies making gasoline cheaper, our free highway system, and underinvestment in alternative transport like intercity trains.
