State Grid Sanmenxia: Pre-rain Checks Secure Transmission Line Safety
“Meteorological observatories have forecast heavy rains over the coming days. This area is to be thoroughly inspected to ensure no hidden risks in tower foundations,” noted transmission personnel from State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company on August 5. On that day, comprehensive patrols were conducted on the 110kV Morgan Line under local operation and maintenance, alongside flood prevention hazard inspections, with all efforts focused on ensuring power supply during the summer peak period.
To implement requirements regarding localized management of transmission line corridors during the flood season and effectively improve the quality and efficiency of corridor operation and maintenance, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company has carried out full-scale inspections of low-lying, water-prone areas based on the risk distribution of transmission lines. Designated personnel have been assigned to capture risk distribution maps of transmission lines via drones, facilitating comprehensive assessment of risks around towers and further refinement of work measures.
Meanwhile, manual ground patrol routes have been planned in accordance with line distribution maps, with the most convenient and accurate mountain patrol paths identified. These routes have been effectively connected to maximize patrol efficiency. Thorough inspections have been conducted on high-voltage transmission lines in special geological zones—including collapsible loess areas, goafs, and regions adjacent to river courses—to ensure no blind spots in hazard detection. Leveraging the video monitoring capabilities of the Transmission Center, operation and maintenance staff have conducted 24-hour surveillance of transmission lines through over 3,000 video monitors. This enables timely tracking of flood conditions near line corridors and the scouring of tower foundations, ensuring that flood-season hazards are detected and addressed early.
Moving forward, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company will continue to monitor weather changes, adjust response strategies promptly, and ensure the safe and stable operation of transmission line equipment within its jurisdiction. This will effectively guarantee the uninterrupted electricity supply for local residents throughout the summer. (By Chen Baojie )
